Recent changes in makeup usage have highlighted alternative areas of interest amongst makeup users.
These are the findings of a beauty industry study update study undertaken by market research company The NPD Group Inc.
On the whole, usage of makeup products dropped by 5 per cent amongst 18 to 64 year old women in 2010, in comparison to 2008.
Among women who wear makeup, an extra million women are wearing just one makeup product per day.
Despite overall makeup usage having declined, an area of increasing interest is makeup products which have skincare benefits.
Nearly 90 per cent of makeup users have used a makeup product with a skincare benefit in the last year.
Moisturisers were used by 54 per cent of respodents and SPF protection by 51 per cent.
Oil removal or pore unclogging products were used by nearly y third of respondents, with 30 per cent using natural/mineral-based products.
