Thu, 11 Nov 2010
The American makeup giant, Mary Kay Inc, is to invest $20 million in the Indian cosmetics market over the next five years.

It plans to market its products in 200 cities, launching targeted products in India over the following months.

The plan is to do so via 100,000 independent beauty consultants, who will make up its direct selling force.

The company already sells its makeup products via a direct sales force and independent beauty consultants in Australia, Argentina, Brazil, China and Canada.

The skin care market in India registers an annual growth rate of almost 13 per cent through 2012, equating to $365 million.

Mary Kay presently has an annual turnover of $3 billion.
