L'Oréal SA, the biggest cosmetics group, stated last week that third-quarter sales soared by 15 per cent due to strong consumer demand for its mass-market products.
L'Oréal, the group which makes Ralph Lauren perfume and Garnier shampoo, stated that third-quarter sales totalled 4.85 billion euros, in contrast to 4.24 billion euros a year before.
Sales went up by 5.8 per cent.
The growth has been due to an improvement in market share.
Consumer goods manufacturers' market is experiencing tough times due to economic and unemployment concerns.
L'Oréal has increased its American market share, however, its European market share remains stable.
L'Oréal's universe sells supermarket deodorants and expensive Lancome skin creams. Moreover, the company's mass-market consumer products dvision increased 6.5 per cent, providing the company with its strongest boost, in the American market and in more recent high-growth countries like India and China.
