Tween Makeup Market Growing
Mon, 21 Feb 2011
Teenage girls are using makeup earlier than their predecessors.

Surprisingly, under tens are also using makeup, more than then ever before.

Experian Market Research results highlight that 43 percent of 6 to 9 year olds are already using lipstick or lip gloss .

Furthermore, 38 per cent of 6 to 9 year olds use hairstyling products, with 12 per cent using other cosmetics .

Certain companies sell cosmetic and beauty product lines purely for tweens. For example, Wal-Mart is set to introduce Geo Girl in March for tweens. This cosmetic line is designed specifically for 8- to 12-year-olds.

Of course, the underlying question is, ought tween-age girls to be wearing cosmetics?

Many experts reject foundation and eyeliner for tween use.

However, cosmetics specifically designed for young girls, such as, flavoured, glittery lip balms and lip glosses, and girly shades of sparkling nail varnishes are out to jury.
