The American beauty industry grew by 4 per cent in dollar sales during 2010 in contrast to 2009 due to a skin care recovery, so says the market research company, The NPD Group.
The American global end-of-year results for make up, skin care and fragrance were presented in New York last week.
NPD claims that the American beauty industry expanded last year, after declining for two years.
2010 demonstrated that the appeal of beauty products has continued.
Skin care accounted for the largest dollar growth, with make up and fragrance following.
2011 looks like it will be a good year for all these categories too.
In contrast with Europe, just the UK demonstrated a growth in 2009 of 8 per cent, France a 3 per cent increase and Italy a two per cent increase.
