Men appear to be becoming as looks conscious as women.
Brand new research shows that three million plus men wear makeup in the UK.
The latest study emphasises that one in seven men, so called ‘metrosexuals’, use different types of traditionally female cosmetics like eye liner, anti-ageing creams and nail polish .
The study also found that more than a quarter of those who wear makeup do so at least once a week, with a quarter stating that they would feel uncomfortable going into a pub without any on.
Opinium Research interviewed 1,800 men and discovered that a third of those wearing makeup borrow cosmetics from their girlfriends or wives, with 40 per cent of the women assisting them in its application.
The most popular products for men cited were: eye creams, hair dye, anti-ageing products, fake tan and eyeliner . However, they they also stated that they use face powder, concealer, nail polish, lip stick, as well as mascara .
It takes men on average 21 minutes to get ready for a night out, as opposed to 41 minutes for the average woman.
The trend for some male celebrities to wear ‘manscara’ and ‘guyliner’ is popular and so it appears to have become the norm amongst a growing number of men.
