This year saw value for money consumers tightening their spending after giving extravagant gifts in 2010.
2010 saw people gifting mothers with expensive makeup, flowers and jewellery.
The average individual spent around £50 for on Mother’s Day this year, with jewellery spending dropping by 4 per cent and perfume, cosmetics and toiletry spending declining by 8.2%.
Moreover, there was a drop of 6% in clothing and accessories.
There was an increase in chocolate and confectionary spending of 8 per cent.
There were lots of gifts given to Mothers this year consisting of spa days and beauty treatments.
