Over two-thirds (67 per cent) of British women put on their make-up on the morning commute, with a further 22 per cent just touching up their lipstick or mascara while travelling, according to a new study.
The survey, conducted by Debenhams, found that make-up on the move is most popular among British women in their 30s who juggle work, families and socialising. London came top as the city where it happens most, followed by Manchester. However, three-quarters avoid loose powders while travelling because of the potential mess and only a third use eyeliner because they can’t keep a steady hand while on the move.
Ruth Attridge, spokesperson for Debenhams said: “Make-up application is now a frequent sight during the weekday rush hour. It’s blusher, not blushes these days. Women told us that it comes down to saving time in the mornings and with the UK’s commute now the longest in Europe, a full face of make-up is easily achievable between King’s Cross and Embankment.”
