A new virtual makeup device has hit UK.
The system is powered by IBM technology and is being marketed by a company known as EZFace, using virtual reality to enable customers try on cosmetics without needing to use any of it.
A “virtual mirror” snaps your face. You are then permited to scan in the barcode of a particular, foundation, eye shadow, mascara, lip gloss, blusher and so on, in order to see how you would look with them on.
The system allows for eye colour, skin tone and lighting and also offers suggestions, enabling high street cosmetic brands like Maybelline and L’Oreal to provide you with virtual makeovers in the store you are in.
These devices are currently being tested in UK Boots stores as well as a few Wal-Marts in America.
These kiosks could mean fewer returns as you would be able to see what suits you best before buying it. Plus, this system eliminates the need for customers to apply, wipe off and re-apply makeup samples and contend with other consumers’ germs.
