The eccentric fashion style icon Iris Apfel may be a nonagenerian, but that hasn’t stopped the 90 year old from designing a new makeup range for MAC.
The 20 piece collection is influenced by Apfel’s Rare Bird exhibition that took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2005.
The line, on sale at MAC stores from January 5, has plenty of vibrant colours and names which are inspired by birds such as Party Parrot, Pink Pigeon and Scarlet Ibis. Toco Toucan is a bright fuchsia nail polish and there is a a deep grey, brown eye shadow called Diamond Dove.
According to Ms Apfel, young people are wanting in the style department. She said: “Most of the young people today look dreadful. And celebrities look even worse.” MAC says the range is “a colour collection inspired by a rare bird who has always been ahead of her time.”
