Dry shampoo, which first appeared in the sixties, is enjoying a revival in the beauty world with dry shampoo sales accounting for a fifth of all shampoo sales, according to Superdrug .
It was created originally to revive hair between washes, but many people now use it to make a blow dry last longer or to give their style more texture and volume. The spray powder blends in with hair tone whether it has been coloured or is natural.
The most poplular brand, loved by celebrities such as Kate Moss and Kirsten Dunst, is Klorane gentle dry shampoo with oat milk (£7.50, John Lewis). It is gentler on the scalp than many of the other dry shampoos on the market and has a subtle fragrance.
For those who are on a budget, Batiste (£2.99, Superdrug) has been around since the seventies and is brilliant for a volumising boost and is available in a range of colours and fragrances.
